Dr. Gordon T. Bolger
has over 38 years of applied research experience in molecular pharmacology and pharmacodynamics, out of which 22 years have been spent as a Drug Discovery Scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim and 10 years have been spent in a contract research organization in the Department of Toxicology as a Senior Research Scientist and Study Director and chief toxicokinetic analyst.
He has extensive and broad-based experience in drug discovery and the impact of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion on the development of new drugs and the design of animal models for assessing the potential therapeutic activity of IND candidates. Prior to joining Boehringer Ingelheim, Dr. Bolger spent four years at the National Institutes of Health as a Fogarty Fellow and Research Associate and two years at Memorial University of Newfoundland as a scholar of the Medical Research Council of Canada and Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, investigating the role of voltage gated calcium channels on neuronal function.
He has years of experience in the preparation of experimental protocols, directing studies and the evaluation of preclinical data meeting ICH/FDA/OECD and EU guidelines as well as the use of predictive pharmacology for the enablement of clinical studies. Dr. Bolger obtained his B.Sc. from McGill University and his Ph.D. from the State University of New York. He is co-author on over one hundred scientific publications, several book chapters and two patents.
